This course is worth 1.0 continuing education contact hour for LCATs in New York state.
This course will explore an ethical-decision making model specific to the practice of art therapy based on the existing ethical literature in the field of art therapy. It will apply this model to a variety of case studies to better grasp application of this model to ethical challenges.
• Participants will be able to articulate an understanding of teleological and deontological ethical systems of thought.
• Participants will explore ethical issues that include the following: moral and legal standards, public statements, confidentiality; client/patient welfare; professional relations; use of client artwork; ownership of client art; art therapy responsibility and competence.
Dr. McIntosh has a NYC based private practice and is an adjunct professor at Albertus Magnus College. She studied art therapy at Pratt Institute and clinical psychology with an emphasis in depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
